the homesteader from Lysvik, Värmland, Nils Olsson Löfgren born in 1853 and his wife Karolina Nilsdotter born in 1857 had several children including a son August Hilmer Löfgren born on December 1, 1892.
August Hilmer travels to America on July 19, 1911, together with his two companions Erik and Karl, aiming for the coastal town of Astoria in Oregon between Seattle and Portland.
During 1920, August Hilmer returns to Sweden-Värmland and meets his love Frida Matilda Olivia Larsdotter born on May 19, 1902 in Lysvik, Sweden. The couple married on 23 June 1921 in Lysvik and had two children in Sweden, Nils Adolf born 16 October 1921 and Evelyn Maria born 22 April 1923.
August Hilmer returns to the United States on October 11, 1923 to prepare the arrival of the entire family who will follow with the Steamer Drottningholm on August 5, 1925. The surname is now changed to Lofgren.
Nils Adolf Lofgren meets a girl of Italian descent and settles in Chicago, Illinois. The couple had, among other things, the son Nils Hilmer Lofgren in 1951. After a while, the family moved to a suburb of the city of Garrett Park in Maryland, near the border with Washington, D.C.
We pay tribute to the artist Nils Hilmer Lofgren, his music and great talent as a multi-instrumentalist. Since 1984, he has been a member of Bruce Springsteen's backing band, the E Street Band, and was previously in the band Crazy Horse. Nils is also the founder and frontman of the band Grin. In 2014, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A fantastic musician and artist.
